European summer is coming and we're getting excited! So much to discover and explore. Our favourite special treat this month has to be the hot air balloon ride over the Swiss Alps. What a beautiful way to absorb the majesty of the terrain. And speaking of amazing landscapes, Swiss & Europe Travel trip planner Alan Tubery still raves about his visit to Iceland last year. Please read on for these, and other fabulous holiday ideas.

HOT AIR BALLOON OVER THE ALPS

If you have not already taken a hot air balloon ride in the Alps there are three reasons you should. The views are simply fantastic. The burner which regularly interrupts the quiet wafting, makes steering easy and no anxiety will assail you because that burner makes the landing quite predictable. The Alps are best seen from a side view when a whole vista of peaks stretches away on the horizon. Click here for more information.

WALKING IN ICELAND

At Swiss & Europe Travel we know that the frontiers of the world are shrinking. And we also know that there's a destination that will appeal to those who have a thirst for the uncommon adventure. Which leads us to Iceland, land of the utterly wild and pristine. In its remote landscapes you can hike mountainous terrain, scale glaciers, delve into canyons, dip into thermal pools and just gaze in awe at this country. 5 MUST VISIT EUROPEAN CITIES

Whether it's your first visit or your fiftieth, these cities hold a wealth of treasures just waiting to be explored. As European specialists, we know all the ins and outs and we love to share our favourite local gems so that you too, get as much pleasure from these destinations as we do.

1. BARCELONA Fanciful architecture and hip restaurants have come together with the sunny southern Spanish climate and beaches to transform Barcelona in just a few decades from rough port city to one of Europe’s—if not the world’s—premier destinations. Click to continue

2. PARIS Welcome to the fabled “City of Lights” or “City of Love.” Paris is certainly both and has always been considered one of the most romantic cities in the world. Click here for more information.

3. ST PETERSBURG Spanned by ornate bridges, the wide, fast-flowing River Neva divides this city of spectacular architecture in two. History seeps from every wall and the colours, scale and grandeur of the buildings seem almost too much to take in. Click here to continue

4. VENICE There is no other city like Venice. It has 180 canals, 450 bridges and magnificent palaces. It is a city rich in museums and historical buildings of great artistic and cultural importance. Click here for details.

5. VIENNA Vienna fires our imagination with sweeping waltzes and balls at the Opera, beautiful buildings, the Spanish Riding School and traditional cafés. That being said, even with all this history and tradition, Vienna also has a very different side – its young, trendy and creative side. Click here for more information.
